Description: Columbia University School of Nursing has more than a century-long history of achievement in education, a well-known focus on clinical excellence and leadership, and nationally recognized specialty and sub-specialty education programs. The School of Nursing is currently recruiting a Faculty member who will teach and practice in the Nurse Anesthesia specialty, as well as serve as Director for the Nurse Anesthesia Program.
Required Education: Doctorate
The Program Director will assume academic, clinical and administrative responsibilities in the Nurse Anesthesia program, while establishing or maintaining a clinical practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. S/He will be responsible to provide oversight for the program, direct the activities of the program in collaboration with the Assistant and Associate deans, maintain accreditation requirements, coordinate clinical assignments for students, and overall maintain the quality and integrity of the nurse anesthesia program. In addition, the incumbent will lead the program through the curricular transition from the MS degree to the DNP degree.

Minimum Qualifications: An initial certification and continued recertification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification (NBCRNA) is required, as well as a doctoral degree in Nursing (PhD, DNSc, DNP, DrPH, EdD) from a recognized institution of higher education. A minimum of two (2) years of practice experience as a CRNA is also required.
The successful candidate will have leadership and decision-making abilities sufficient to assist in coordinating the academic & clinical activities of the student body. S/He will also have excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience as a clinical or didactic instructor in an AANA Council on Accreditation nurse anesthesia program is highly preferred.
