The Assistant Program Director (APD) provides leadership to the Keck School of Medicine Doctoral Nurse Anesthetist Program (“Program”) students and prepares students with theory and principles in academic, clinical, and research areas of nurse anesthesia. The APD should have both the academic and management experience to temporarily perform the Program Director’s or Associate Program Director’s duties as needed.
ACADEMIC and CLINICAL CREDENTIALS
The APD will hold a terminal degree (e.g., EdD, PhD or DNP/DNAP), maintain current California RN licensure and NBCRNA certification and have completed coursework in evaluation, testing and curriculum development. Previous experience as a director or assistant/associate director and/or administrative experience with clinical and academic management is preferred.
The APD is responsible for curriculum development in collaboration with the Program Director and Associate Program Director, administration of Program policies and procedures, clinical education, and serves as a research mentor for students. The APD assists program administration to ensure the academic and clinical curriculum is designed and implemented within program guidelines and the Standards of the Council on Accreditation (COA). The position is a full-time 12-month appointment, reporting to the Program Director.
