Description: Position Summary

This position will assists the surgeon in the organization and daily functions of the anesthesia department in accordance with established Federal, State, and accreditation standards, centers policies, and procedures. This position is responsible for providing anesthesia services to Surgicare patients in accordance with supervisory protocol and for cleaning the anesthesia equipment, machines, and supply cards according to the established procedures.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Regulations and Standards
•Conforms to and abides by all regulatory, Federal, State, and local laws governing Surgicare Center
•Complies with all company and Surgicare policies and procedures
•Adheres to standard precautions, infection control policies, and utilizes required PPE
•Complies with incident reporting, responds to emergency drills, notifies management of unsafe conditions, and attends regular risk management, OSHA, and Biohazard trainings

Responsibility to Patient and Surgeon
•Able to plan and implement anesthesia care ability to make sound anesthesia judgements based on knowledge and experience for appropriate action
•Display knowledge of appropriate anesthetics utilized for scheduled procedures
•Performs induction of anesthesia for patients according to surgeon preference and supervisory protocol
•Has experience and competency in handling emergency care of a patient
•Legible, complete, accurate, and timely medical records documentation
•Anticipates the need for equipment and supplies selects equipment and supplies in an organized, cost-effective, and timely manner
•Effectively operates machinery and equipment as needed/required
•Keeps anesthesia equipment ad supply charts clean and stocked at all times
•Prepares all necessary medications for surgery
•Effectively communicates and interacts with patients and their families assists in the ongoing process of healthcare delivery to patients incorporating knowledge of age-related and developmental stages
•Use principles of aseptic practice in varying situations understands and practices standards for infection control wears appropriate attire in restricted areas adheres to recommended traffic patterns
•Maintain CRNA accreditation and required CEU’s assume responsibility for competency and take initiative for professional development and continuing education remain current with trends and changes

•Is a contributing team member and displays a positive, professional attitude at all times includes but is not limited to co-workers, internal and external clients, families, and individuals from diverse backgrounds
•Does not promote destructive communication, negativity, gossip, or rumors

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma/GED and graduate of an accredited school of nursing or nurse anesthesia program required. Associate’s Degree or higher preferred. Current (or ability to obtain) ALCS/BLS licensure required.

Experience: 2+ years of experience in anesthesia preferred. Acute care and ambulatory surgery anesthesia care in ophthalmology preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff to ensure a smooth patient flow in daily operations required.
