Description: Delivers training to entry-level nurse anesthesia students and CRNAs enrolled in the Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia (MSNA) program. Serves as simulation laboratory instructor with additional didactic instructor role in the MSNA and entry level-DNAP program. Participates in all department, various School of Health Professions, and University-wide tasks and activities.
Required Education: Diploma/Certificate in Anesthesia, Masters Degree, Doctorate
Assist the Director of Simulation in instruction including the annual regional summer symposium
Teach and organize ANE 6603 and ANE 6605 (summer courses)
Advise entry level students during didactic and clinical training when necessary
Mentor and review case studies and portfolio papers
Serve as project reviewer for DNAP students
Administrative responsibilities include:
Conduct on-site clinical sites visits
Participate in the selection of students for admission into the program
Attend regional and national anesthesia meetings including the Assembly of School Faculty and the AANA National Congress.
Master of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia required
Current enrollment in doctoral program with projected completion by 2019
Current certification or re-certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is required
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Texas and recognition by the Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
Active member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA)
Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
Educational/teaching experience (didactic or clinical) preferred.
